About

Hi hello! My name is Kelsie and I’m an artist and illustrator currently living and working on Wadawurrung Country in Ballarat.
How I work:
As a trained graphic designer, I constantly move between digital and analogue art making processes. I will begin with sketching, creating textures with watercolour and scanning my artwork in to edit it digitally. I create and design with an end product in mind most times and work in a variety of mediums from painting to video making, to create products such as prints, cards, fabric, ceramics and more.
My love for learning and education:
I am currently studying my Masters of Teaching (Primary and Secondary) as I am and always have been passionate about learning. Learning never stops, and sharing my knowledge has always been important to me. I hope to be able to inspire and share my knowledge with those around me and future generations.
My creative ethos:
Perfection doesn’t exist, only progress.
My work history and my roots:
I grew up in the beach city of Perth, Western Australia, and made the move to Melbourne about four years ago. In Perth, I worked as a graphic designer at a boutique stationery store, and started a small stationery business called K Gets Organised. This little business was a wonderful experience for me and I had stockists across the world. I packed it all up and moved to Melbourne to allow my wonderful then Fiance to follow his dreams of study. I lived in the beautifully diverse and artistic city of Footscray where I had a studio at Riverside Studios and took every workshop I could from creatives across the city. I was lucky enough to work at an art supplies store for that time which allowed me access to a huge variety of materials to experiment with. After my time at the art supply store, I worked as a social media manager and coordinated the marketing for a boutique ceramics business. That work taught me a lot of skills - from how to create engaging social media content to inventory management - and for that I am so grateful. I left that job to make my move to the town of Ballarat (about an hour and a half West of Melbourne with a population just 100,000).
